    Strategic Staffing Solutions is currently looking for an Operational Accountant,a W2 contract opportunity with one of our largest clients!

    This is a W2 contract opportunity, and the candidates should be willing to work on our W2 ONLY, NO C2C.

    Operational Accountant
    Location: West Des Moines, IA/Charlotte, NC
    Schedule: On-site
    Duration-12 Months

    Team Description: Supplier Enablement Operations creates and maintains a centralized supplier onboarding and enablement process and continually improves supply chain practices, reducing risk to ensure that sourced goods and services can be procured and paid for in the most efficient and compliant way.

    Job Description:

    1. Responsible for unique supplier setup and maintenance requests tied to projects (Early Pay Discount, Virtual Card) and monitoring Ariba Buying & Invoicing supplier mismatch reports to identify, research, and resolve discrepancies between Ariba and PeopleSoft migration.
    2. Answer questions on process to peers and managers as well as internal and external customers and troubleshoot escalated and complex questions coming from internal business groups and external suppliers.
    3. Prioritize and complete escalations independently, reports system defects, completes requirements for enhancements to systems and processes, and independently completes monthly UAT system testing efforts to submit test scripts, and additional projects as assigned.
    4. Analyze risks in process and document procedures and training requirements to strengthen and improve individual and team performance. This position is relied upon heavily to assist with the uptick created by our systems, projects, and newer employees.
    5. Works independently, is a self-starter, requiring little direction or management oversight. This role is key to successfully driving the expansion of suppliers through our Ariba platform and away from PeopleSoft eProcurement.
    6. Work directly with Suppliers to troubleshoot Ariba system modules and the PeopleSoft system.
    7. There are system clean-up projects to be managed and worked to maintain a system of record free from error. Examples are inactivating unused supplier locations and adding a physical address to older active suppliers in the system for Global Sanctions screening.
    8. Successful Supplier Onboarding is a key task for this position. This role partners closely with Ariba, the supplier key contact(s), and various roles across SCM including Sourcing and Contracts, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Enabling Capabilities, and the Business Group to ensure suppliers have been successfully onboarded for transacting in Ariba.

    In this contingent resource assignment, you may:

    • Participate in low to moderately complex initiatives and identify opportunity for process improvements within Operational Accounting.
    • Review and analyze basic or tactical Operational Accounting assignments or challenges that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternatives, related to low-to-medium risk deliverables.
    • Present recommendations for resolving low to moderately complex situations and exercise some independent judgment while developing understanding of function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements. Provide information to client personnel in Operational Accounting.

     Required Qualifications: 2+ years of Operational Accounting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work or consulting experience, training, military experience, education.

This role requires exceptional attention to detail, advanced Excel capabilities, and the ability to translate billing and operational data into clear, actionable insights. The ideal candidate is highly accountable, self-directed, and effective working across multiple lines of business.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform detailed billing analysis to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal controls and policies
    • Analyze large data sets to identify trends, discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for process improvement
    • Develop and maintain advanced Excel reports, dashboards, and reconciliations to support billing operations
    • Investigate billing variances and partner with cross-functional teams to resolve issues efficiently
    • Support risk management and control processes by identifying gaps, documenting findings, and recommending corrective actions
    • Collaborate with Merchant Services, Operations, Finance, and Risk teams to support ongoing operational initiatives
    • Ensure all work meets established quality standards, deadlines, and regulatory requirements

    Required Qualifications

    • Strong attention to detail with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
    • Demonstrated experience in billing operations and data analysis, with the ability to produce actionable insights
    • Solid understanding of risk management and internal control processes
    • High level of personal accountability with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple business lines

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Familiarity with merchant services or merchant operations
    • Experience supporting billing operations within a financial services or payments environment

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and consult on complex, large-scale initiatives with broad impact across Independent Risk Management functions.
    • Review and analyze multi-faceted, longer-term risk challenges involving numerous variables, including intangible or unprecedented factors.
    • Conduct analytical assessments using data to support decision-making and develop clear, actionable recommendations.
    • Present operational risk findings, monitoring results, and emerging risks to executive leadership in a clear and concise manner.
    • Provide independent oversight and challenge of operational risk frameworks, governance, and business processes.
    • Support the resolution of complex issues by applying an in-depth understanding of operational risk policies, procedures, regulatory expectations, and compliance requirements.
    • Strategically collaborate with stakeholders at all organizational levels to ensure alignment with enterprise risk objectives.

    Required Qualifications

    • 7+ years of Operational Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military service, or education.
    • Advanced knowledge of operational risk frameworks, governance practices, and risk oversight methodologies.
    • Proven ability to interpret and analyze complex data sets to support decisions and explain resolutions to sophisticated issues.
    • Demonstrated experience presenting risk assessments, emerging risks, or monitoring results to senior and executive leaders.
    • Background in Auto Lending operations and related processes.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
    • Equivalent combination of 5+ years of Risk Management experience (work, consulting, military, or education) also qualifies.
