Smart Grid Network Analyst

Job Title: Smart Grid Network Analyst 

Location: Tampa, FL (Onsite + Field Work Required)
Duration: Contract (Potential Extension)
Pay Rate: $60-$65/hr


We are seeking a Smart Grid Network Analyst to support the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of RF-based communication networks within a utility environment. This role is critical to maintaining reliable connectivity across Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), SCADA, and distribution systems.

This is a hands-on technical role requiring a mix of network engineering, field support, and system troubleshooting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and troubleshoot RF / wireless network performance to ensure system reliability
  • Support installation, configuration, and maintenance of smart grid network infrastructure
  • Assist with deployment and support of AMI, SCADA, and grid communication systems
  • Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and field crews on network installations and upgrades
  • Perform firmware updates, system configurations, and equipment provisioning
  • Maintain accurate documentation for network configurations, assets, and changes
  • Support emergency response efforts, including after-hours troubleshooting as needed

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in network engineering, telecom, or wireless networking
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Routing & Switching
    • TCP/IP Networking
    • DNS/DHCP
  • Experience with RF, wireless, or telecom network technologies
  • Hands-on experience installing, configuring, or troubleshooting network equipment
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) or smart grid technologies
  • Background in utilities, energy, telecom, or large-scale infrastructure networks
  • Experience supporting SCADA or distribution automation systems
  • Certifications such as:
    • CCNA / CCNP
    • CompTIA Network+
    • CWNA or other wireless certifications

Senior-Level Candidates (Level II)

Candidates with deeper experience may also:

  • Design and lead implementation of RF network infrastructure
  • Collaborate with vendors and engineering teams to optimize performance
  • Lead small projects or mentor junior team members
  • Support network automation or scripting efforts

Work Environment

  • Combination of office and field-based work
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle networking equipment
  • Participation in on-call or emergency response rotations
