Senior Specialty Software Engineer
Location: Charlotte, NC
Duration: 12 Months
Pay Rate: $75-$85 per hour
We are seeking a Senior Specialty Software Engineer to support complex, large-scale initiatives with broad organizational impact. This role blends strategic consulting with hands-on engineering, requiring a self-starter who can think systemically, operate independently, and contribute directly to solution design and implementation.
The ideal candidate brings deep software engineering expertise, experience with cloud-native and GenAI-enabled solutions, and the ability to navigate ambiguous, multi-faceted challenges while collaborating closely with technical and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

Consult on complex, enterprise-level software engineering initiatives with broad and long-term impact

Support large-scale planning and strategy for Specialty Software Engineering programs

Analyze and resolve multi-faceted technical challenges, including situations involving unknowns or unprecedented factors

Apply systems thinking to design scalable, resilient, and maintainable solutions

Contribute to the resolution of complex situations requiring a solid understanding of:

Software engineering practices

Compliance and regulatory requirements

Collaborate strategically with client stakeholders, including engineering leadership, product teams, and cross-functional partners

Required Qualifications

5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through:

Professional work experience

Consulting engagements

Military experience

Education and/or advanced technical training

Self-starter with the ability to work independently and drive initiatives forward

Strong systems thinking skills with the ability to evaluate end-to-end impacts

Fluent in Java, Python, and one additional programming language (e.g., C#, JavaScript, Golang)

Experience with cloud-native development, including modern architectures and services

Experience implementing or supporting GenAI-enabled solutions

Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills

Proven ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
