Job Title: Firewall Operations Analyst
Contract Length: 12-month contract role with a hybrid schedule (4 days onsite, 1 day remote).

The Firewall Operations Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day operations, support, and maintenance of enterprise network firewalls. This role focuses on handling firewall change requests, supporting infrastructure and security projects, and troubleshooting network issues from a firewall and perimeter security perspective. The analyst will work closely with project teams, architects, and business stakeholders to ensure secure and compliant network operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform network and firewall troubleshooting, including resolving issues related to Check Point firewalls and Cisco routers/switches.
- Plan, engineer, and implement firewall rule changes and security updates.
- Support and advise project teams from a network security and firewall perspective.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architects and business partners on firewall and network security initiatives.
- Participate regularly in project meetings as a representative of the Firewall Operations team.
- Maintain and support network firewalls, including:
- Routine patching and upgrades
- Hardware and software troubleshooting
- Follow established change management processes for all firewall-related changes.
- Produce technical documentation, including:
- Firewall change records
- Standards and operational procedures
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support firewall-related incidents and outages.
Required Qualifications
- Recent, hands-on experience with Check Point firewalls (R81.x or higher).
- Strong experience with routing and switching, primarily using Cisco technologies.
- Proven experience with VPN configuration, implementation, and troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of network security best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in regulated environments (NERC compliance preferred).
- Familiarity with cloud-based VPN solutions, particularly:
- Azure VPNs with Check Point
- AWS VPNs with Check Point
