Active Directory Engineer (Domain Controller Engineering)
Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)
Duration: 12 Months Contract
Pay: $70/hr W2 ONLY, NO C2C
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Active Directory Engineer with deep, hands-on experience designing, building, and engineering Active Directory Domain Controllers in enterprise environments. This role is focused on engineering, automation, and infrastructure design, not day-to-day administrative support. The ideal candidate has strong PowerShell scripting expertise, experience with Domain Controller virtualization, and a solid understanding of Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
You will work in an Agile delivery model, collaborating with infrastructure, security, and platform teams to engineer scalable, resilient, and automated Active Directory solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and engineer Active Directory Domain Controllers in enterprise environments.

Lead and execute Domain Controller virtualization initiatives, including performance and resiliency considerations.

Develop and maintain PowerShell automation for AD engineering, deployment, and maintenance tasks.

Engineer and manage Active Directory infrastructure with a focus on reliability, scalability, and security.

Support Domain Controller lifecycle management, including builds, upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning.

Work with Microsoft Hyper-V to design and manage virtualized Domain Controller environments.

Partner with security and infrastructure teams to ensure AD architectures align with enterprise standards and best practices.

Document engineering designs, configurations, and automation processes.

Track work and progress using Jira and participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, retrospectives).
Required Skills & Experience

Strong hands-on engineering experience with Active Directory Domain Controllers.

Proven experience building and engineering domain controllers (physical and virtual).

Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for automation and engineering workflows.

Experience with Domain Controller virtualization strategies and best practices.

Hands-on experience with Microsoft Hyper-V management.

Experience with Active Directory Domain Controller management from an engineering perspective (architecture, performance, resiliency).

Familiarity with Jira for work tracking.
