Job Description/Responsibilities:
- Acts as a database designer responsible for complex databases employing deep knowledge of current technology and tools as well as relevant systems that already exist
- Establishes and maintains database performance
- Investigates and resolves intricate, difficult, and complex database issues
- Reviews data source requirements and ensures proper integration with the rest of the applications within the database
- Analyzes, resolves, and tests complex defects or improvements in the database
- Leads database implementation and large-scale maintenance projects of new and existing databases
- Identifies and evaluates industry trends in database systems to serve as a source of information and advice for upper management
- Manages delivery of projects in partnership with business stakeholders, by demonstrating an expert understanding of the business needs and how technical analysis can produce solutions
- Regularly takes the lead in developing data- related solutions based on cross-functional needs
- Influences teams and stakeholders to achieve objectives; communicates how database administration work drives value for the business
- Manages stakeholder relationships to ensure successful deployment of updates, problem solving and ongoing database administration
- Provides implementation path for a group of systems to provide a solution; sets service level expectations
Required Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 7+ years of relevant experience
- Consideration will be given to candidates with 11+ years of experience in lieu of the degree requirement.
- In-depth knowledge of database definition, structure, documentation, operational guidelines and security
- In-depth understanding of relevant database software
- In-depth knowledge of backup and recovery strategies
- In-depth knowledge of writing database queries and scripting languages
- Advanced knowledge of database procedural programming languages
- Advanced knowledge of performance monitoring and tuning
- In-depth understanding of business client application(s) and database integration and implementation
- In-depth knowledge of other areas of Digital, such as cybersecurity
- Experience working with software/application vendors to optimize their code
- Expert level SQL statement tuning experience with Oracle databases
- Advanced knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager
- In depth knowledge and experience with Oracle Exadata, RAC, and Data Guard
- In depth knowledge and experience with Oracle RMAN, including database cloning
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Oracle partitioning methods and best practices
- Experience patching and upgrading Oracle databases
- Ability to drive complex problems to resolution
