Job Title: Network Security Engineer

Location(s): 100% REMOTE

Role Type: W2 ONLY

Contract Length: 6 months with the potential for extension/conversion.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Perform lead firewall migration support for long-term project involving major enterprise firewall migration from Checkpoint to new Palo Alto infrastructure.
  • As a member of the security engineering team, the engineer will follow existing corporate processes to analyze, define, and implement efforts required for the success of the infrastructure migration.
  • Plan and perform migration changes on Checkpoint and Palo Alto Firewalls.
  • Run application check-out meetings for firewall migration validations.
  • Analyze firewall requirements for application migrations to new infrastructure.
  • Manage changes through ServiceNow ITSM application.
  • Manage firewall implementations through AlgoSec and Panorama applications.
  • Remove old firewall configurations no longer required for optimization.
  • Attend project meetings to report statuses, timelines, and any firewall issues.
  • Participate in trouble-shooting application issues that may involve firewalls.
  • Ensure firewalls infrastructure can support the application migrations.

Required Qualifications/Experiences:

  • Demonstrated experience with Checkpoint and Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Experience with AlgoSec and Panorama Firewall Management applications.
  • Experience with ServiceNow ITSM application.
  • Experience with large scale enterprise projects.
  • Knowledge of security protocols and implementations.
  • Experience in the use of multiple network tools, such as, SyslogNG, SevOne, Spectrum, Splunk, tcpdump and Qradar, for network troubleshooting and monitoring.
  • Well versed in crisis management and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
  • Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
