Job Title: Network Engineer
Location: REMOTE role – come into St Louis, MO once per quarter (company paid for) and potential paid relocation option if interested.
Role Type/Salary: FTE/Direct Hire; base salary range: $100-$115K + 8% targeted bonus + unbelievable benefits (e.g., 2 retirement plans: a normal 401K + a cash balance pension plan).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for design of internal data communication systems, including fiber/MPLS, metro-Ethernet and other WAN technologies.
- Performs activities related to Network Performance, Lifecycle, Reliability and Problem Management.
- Plans, designs and implements networked systems, including configurations.
- Supports/troubleshoots network problems.
- Researches and evaluates emerging network and communication technology.
- Installs complex hardware, systems and software for network and/or security components.
- Evaluates new and emerging technologies.
- Recommends solutions that address the user satisfaction and business needs of the organization.
- Develops and maintains scripts to facilitate network administrative tasks and automate repetitive processes.
- Leads teams to conduct the technical analysis of current networks.
- Writes requirements documents for evaluation of new hardware/software.
- Leads the implementation of data/ system security processes including access controls, monitoring software, and generation of security reports.
- Reviews the Digital organization’s technology enablement and integration plans; demonstrates technical expertise within the network through determining best course of action for network-specific projects.
- Proactively communicates network strategy and links to broader digital objectives across the digital organization.

- Identifies trends in issues and determines the root cause to reduce future issues.
- Manages and ensures quality of medium risk/impact network installations or enhancements (e.g., coordinating meetings, tracking budget, following up on action items).
- Coaches less experienced co-workers and provides feedback to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Supports training and college recruiting for co-workers.
- Review and approve Intelligrid network site designs.
- Work with consultant resources to review/approve designs and address site specific design issues.
- Assist with head end network designs.
- Work with the Project Management Team to coordinate cutover schedules and team resources.
- Work on-site or remote to coordinate substation cutovers as needed.
- Assist with resolution of issues during network test/turn-up.
- Manage punch-list items after cutover for follow-up.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in engineering, mathematics, computer science or business.
- 5+ years of relevant experience. Consideration will be given to candidates with nine or more years of relevant experience in lieu of the degree requirement.
- Detailed knowledge of the planning, design, implementation and troubleshooting of network systems.
- Detailed understanding of routing and switching technology, routing protocols, IP networks, and MPLS.
- Detailed knowledge of fiber optic infrastructure.
- Knowledge of ITIL framework.
- Knowledge of industry trends and products.
- Knowledge of waterfall and agile project management processes, tools and techniques.
