Title: Sr. Power BI Developer
Location: Detroit, MI – Hybrid schedule (In office Tue, Wed, Thu)
Duration: 12+ Months
Role Type: W2 contract engagement
Key Accountabilities
- Helps determine enterprise data needs and data strategy, including the development of data policies and standards.
- Provides data stewardship through ongoing monitoring of data elements, strategic planning on entry points, cleansing plans, data sources, structural design of data model, and integration with other systems.
- Develops and manages processes, roles, security access, standards, data quality/integrity, etc. to ensure effective and efficient use of data throughout the enterprise.
- Owns data cleansing and accuracy for critical data elements used publicly.
- Develops, modifies, and automates reports, iteratively build and prototype dashboards to provide insights at scale, solving for analytical needs.
- Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to understand their business needs, formulate complete end-to-end analysis that includes data gathering, analysis, ongoing scaled deliverables, and presentations.
- Integrates industry best practices around data, analytics and technology into business recommendations and analytics strategy roadmap
Qualifications:
- Experience in cloud-based databases such as Azure MS SQL.
- Knowledge of Power BI Services, Power Query, and DirectQuery/Import data ingestion modes.
- Familiarity with data warehouse concepts and dimensional modeling
- Certifications in SQL, Power BI or database administration are a plus.
- Strong expertise in SQL query optimization and performance tuning.
- Experience with MS SQL Server and Azure MS SQL.
- Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views.
- Proficiency in DAX Expressions
- Knowledge of indexing, partitioning, and caching techniques for database performance improvement.
- Experience in database monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as SQL profiler, Execution Plans and Query Store.
- Ability to work with large datasets and optimize query performance for reporting and analytics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with Databricks platform, how to consume services and run queries using the Databricks SQL dialect.
- Familiarity working with noSQL databases, such as cosmosDB
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience working in a data and analytical function, developing and supporting BI reporting tools.
