Title: Senior Data Analyst
Location: Detroit, MI Hybrid (3 days onsite T,W,T)
Duration: 12 Months

Job Summary
Advanced job responsible for collecting, reviewing, validating, and structuring business data for interpretation. Performs statistical, quantitative, and/or predictive analysis to derive insight and support better business decisions. This role also includes the responsibility of serving as the data steward for all data within the discipline. Additionally, this role requires you to teach others the tools, techniques and best practices in self-service reporting and data handling. Helps determine enterprise data needs and data strategy, including the development of data policies and standards.
Key Accountabilities
- Helps determine enterprise data needs and data strategy, including the development of data policies and standards.
- Provides data stewardship through ongoing monitoring of data elements, strategic planning on entry points, cleansing plans, data sources, structural design of data model, and integration with other systems.
- Develops and manages processes, roles, security access, standards, data quality/integrity, etc. to ensure effective and efficient use of data throughout the enterprise.
- Conducts data analysis to make business recommendations (e.g., cost-benefit, invest-divest, forecasting, predictive, what-if, impact analysis, etc.)
- Owns data cleansing and accuracy for critical data elements used publicly.
- Ensures business process consistency and integration with other functional domains in order to meet Company business requirements and solutions.
- Develops and delivers effective presentations of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of stakeholders, creating visual displays of quantitative information through scorecards and dashboards.
- Develops, modifies, and automates reports, iteratively build and prototype dashboards to provide insights at scale, solving for analytical needs.
- Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to understand their business needs, formulate complete end-to-end analysis that includes data gathering, analysis, ongoing scaled deliverables, and presentations.
- Trains and enables self-service reporting capabilities and the use of business intelligence tools for their supported business unit(s).
- Develops a vision and roadmap for analytics across a functional group / business unit.
- Integrates industry best practices around data, analytics and technology into business recommendations and analytics strategy roadmap
- Owns relationships with executive stakeholders across Company.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience working in a data and analytical function, including in-depth quantitative analytics
Other Qualifications
Preferred
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree with emphasis on coursework of a quantitative nature (e.g Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Sciences, Industrial/Organizational Psychology and Business Economics, etc).
- Experience in scripting with SQL, extracting large sets of data, and design of ETL flows.
- Work experience in an interdisciplinary/cross functional field.
- Utility or customer-oriented industry experience
Other Requirements
- Advanced skills with statistical packages (e.g R, SAS, SPSS, Stata, MATLAB, etc).
- Expert knowledge of applied research design, including multivariate analysis
- Experience articulating product questions, pulling data from relational databases technologies (e.g SAP, PeopleSoft, ORACLE, SQL) and using statistics tools to solve business problems, and to conduct indepth analysis to support decision making.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Business Intelligence (BI) tools (e.g Webi, Analysis, Lumira, Tableau, etc)
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to communicate technical information and complex data analytics to a non-technical audience
- Skilled in the data model and functionality of BW and BOBJ (Business Objects) tools.
- Demonstrated self-starter in advancing skillset in data, analytics and technical capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects at one time and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to develop the capabilities of new analysts and a data and analytical team
- Deep interest and aptitude in data, metrics, analysis, trends, statistics, and program evaluation.
- Distinctive problem-solving skills and strong business acumen.
- Capable of translating analysis resulting into business recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
