Job Summary:

  • Works as a team member to provide Level 2 support in one or more of the following areas:
  • Server Hardware/Software, Database Design-architecture, data interoperability, database development, and the Itron Field Collection System (FCS) to support critical automated meter infrastructure (AMI) systems.
  • Performs complex tasks related to technical responsibilities, works on multiple assignments and projects, and ensures seamless data collection and integration.
  • Leads and facilitates meetings and group discussions, delivers formal and informal presentations.
  • Additionally, takes on development responsibilities, including designing, coding, testing, and implementing software solutions to enhance system functionality and performance.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for cloud infrastructure management including administration and maintenance of Field Collection System to ensure optimal performance and security. Implements and manages storge, resource allocation, performance, troubleshooting issues, and daily operations.
  • Plans, schedules, and manages all related engineering support work activities/projects to ensure on-time and in-budget implementation to support the achievement of business unit strategic plans. responsibility will include server hardware / software maintenance, Desktop & LAN Software – Microsoft Windows, Data Interoperability, and enabling technology and tools including XML, SQL, JAVA, J2EE, and additional development tools.
  • Performs system development and integration needs. Designs, codes, tests, and implements software solutions to enhance system functionality and performance to ensure seamless data collection and integration with other systems.
  • Gathers information, analyzes, designs, recommends and implements solutions in area of responsibility. Identifies/utilizes appropriate tools. Responsible for conducting prototypes, data mapping, mapping, setting of configuration/ control tables, and developing functional specifications for the FCS and AMI environments.
  • Communicates and acts as lead liaison among key business partners, project team, and leadership to understand structure, operations, and policies with the goal of facilitating AMI- FCS and the organization’s needs. Provides feedback and direction with the recommended pathway for the organization to meet its goals.
  • Experience in working with vendors and utilizing/enhancing vendor products and tools for the FCS environment
  • Performs development responsibilities as needed, utilizing tools such as SQL, Microsoft Development Suite (PowerShell), SAP Crystal Reports, JAVA, J2EE, ASP.NET Web API and XML development. Engages in programming and testing to maintain and enhance the Field Collection System (FCS), ensuring its optimal performance and functionality.
  • Responsible for overseeing medium scale projects involving one or more business partners, interfaces, or systems. Effectively communicates feedback and solutions to business partners and internal team.
  • Consults on operational and planning issues related to Server Hardware/Software, Desktop & LAN Software, Database Design (Architecture, data interoperability and database development). Network (WAN, Infrastructure, Wireless and Telephony), Enabling Technology & Tools and/or Information Security. May be required to work closely with outside vendors to evaluate vendor’s software, resolve issues or for planning purposes.
  • Develops documents, maintains project features, requirements, use cases, change requests, review results, as well as project artifacts in accordance with organizational standards and processes. Conducts working sessions used to stimulate features and requirements.

Other Qualifications Preferred

  • Experience with Automated Meter Infrastructure (AMI) technologies particularly Gas AMR Metering and Field Collection System. 
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement (CI) and process mapping 
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) auditing and IT controls 
  • Experience and knowledge of gas and electric utility meter reading and related distribution automation technologies is desirable. 
  • Knowledge of Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) and other meter reading devices functionality.
  • Experience using most current database technologies, such as, Oracle, and SQL
  • Enabling Technology & Tools, experience in writing software application code is preferred; Microsoft Development Suite (PowerShell), JAVA, J2EE, and XML development tools Other Requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to recommend and implement solutions.
  • Ability to conduct formal and informal presentations.
  • Experience in managing projects, using project management tools, scheduling, and managing the work activities of others. 
  • Understanding of user access administration in multiple platforms are required, including, Windows NT/2000, Oracle, Mainframe, AS400, and Linux.
  • Broad understanding of IT industry, (e.g. emerging technologies, industry standards, support services, architectures, systems design, and systems integration) and an in-depth knowledge of operational issues in at least one area of engineering support.
  • Communicates effectively, ability to influence and build relationships to foster a positive work environment and elicit support for acceptance of new technology within the organization. ·
  • Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills. 
  • Understanding of information security issues and policies 
  • Supports leadership in planning, executing and monitoring a staff development program in order to develop and maintain a technically competent, motivated and highly productive work force to ensure the availability of resources to satisfy both the near and long term requirements of client areas and the corporation in general.
  • Ability to lead multiple teams and support multiple internal and external clients
