Job Title: Portfolio Operations Analyst

Job Description:
The individual in this position will assist the manager in all aspects of daily oversight of Market Data – including oversight of inbound source data, transformation, quality monitoring, extract redistribution, troubleshooting of cross-platform data flow and data cost analysis, The individual may also be asked to lead or co-lead projects in partnership with Enterprise Technology involving system enhancements in support of new investment strategies.
The position entails both production support and project work.
They will be putting data into Excel to create exception files for uploading to key systems – and using Excel also for analyzing data.
Qualifications:
- Example of Excel use for production support
- Although most market data flow is automated, there are processes that require a manual file to be created.
- The formatting of the file is critical to ensure the application can read the input – so attention to detail is critical.
- Examples of project work involving data analysis –
- If a user requests a new data element from a vendor, we will use an API to pull down the data on subsets of securities to analyze coverage, format of data and lists of return values. The analysts in this position may also use Excel to sort, aggregate and compare output generated from SQL queries for various databases.
- Example of Excel use with Bloomberg API –
- The Bloomberg API allows users to build a grid of security identifiers and data fields to pull back data – knowledge of this mechanism is desired but not required.
Requirements
- The highest priority is to find someone with securities processing experience and knowledge, but preferably also with a strong technical skill set that includes SQL. Systems experience in Charles River IMS, Advent APX and Markit Enterprise Data Management applications preferred but not required.
- Also — experience across multiple asset types is critical – i.e. equities, fixed income and derivatives.
- A strong working knowledge of Bloomberg data is also preferred – ideally the candidate will have Bloomberg certification.
