Job Summary:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Group Policy Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team. The SME will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Group Policy Objects (GPOs) within our organization’s Active Directory environment. They will serve as the primary technical resource for all Group Policy-related matters and provide guidance to other IT staff members.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce security policies, manage user and computer configurations, and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Group Policy framework, including organizational unit (OU) structure, GPO inheritance, filtering, and enforcement.
  • Configure and deploy Group Policy settings for desktop and server operating systems, including Windows 10, Windows Server, and legacy Windows versions.
  • Create and maintain Group Policy Preferences (GPPs) for managing registry settings, files, folders, shortcuts, and other configurations across the network.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate Group Policy with other systems and services, such as Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, and third-party applications.
  • Monitor Group Policy processing and troubleshooting issues related to policy application, inheritance, and conflicts.
  • Plan and execute Group Policy migrations, upgrades, and consolidations as needed, ensuring minimal disruption to end-users and business operations.
  • Stay abreast of the latest Group Policy technologies, trends, and best practices, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior IT staff members and end-users on Group Policy-related matters, including training and documentation.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours incidents as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Group Policy Subject Matter Expert, with at least [X years] of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing Group Policy infrastructure within an Active Directory environment.
  • Expertise in configuring and managing Group Policy Objects (GPOs), Group Policy Preferences (GPPs), and Group Policy security settings.
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory concepts, including organizational units (OUs), domains, forests, trusts, and replication.
  • Experience with Group Policy troubleshooting tools and techniques, such as Group Policy Results (GPResult), Group Policy Modeling, and Event Viewer.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automating Group Policy tasks and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, or similar are preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with a strong commitment to customer service and teamwork.
