Strategic Staffing Solutions is currently looking for a Business Systems Analyst for a contract opportunity with one of our largest clients located in Detroit, MI!

Title: Business Systems Analyst (Mainframe)

Location: Detroit, MI / must be local

Duration: 12+ Months

Role Type: W2 contract engagement

Engagement Description

Perform technology functions to include but not limited to business and systems analysis, application development and process improvement. Serve as a liaison between the business area and the IT organization as needed. Identify, document and communicate system and process changes necessary to improve system and operational performance measures.  Possess an in-depth knowledge of line of business while contributing to the identification, analysis and recommendation of technical process improvement initiatives. Design, create and implement the technical solutions. Support one or more low to moderately complex business processes.


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • One (1) year of relevant technical or business work experience required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge preferred in:
    • system development life cycle
    • process design, re-engineering, and organization transformation, Six Sigma, CMMI or ITIL
    • computer programming languages
  • Basic knowledge of business operations and systems requirement processes.
  • Strong technical, analytical, systems skills.
  • Display innovation in identifying, proposing, and overseeing the execution of business solutions.
  • Written and verbal communication skills interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide technical or business guidance to clients, both internal and external.
  • Ability to work independently, or within a team environment.


  • Write software code, test, debug, document and maintain computer applications.
  • Identify coding errors through informal & formal testing methods. Ensure application integrity by applying software development life cycle (SDLC) concepts.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance of applications, support and manage architecture design.
  • Document functions and changes to new or modified modules and test activities/results.
  • Identify and create technical design specifications in sizing technical requirements, as needed.
  • Support identification of sources of data feeds and interfaces, as needed.
  • Experience in systems design, database development, testing, and integration methodologies.


  • 2-5 years’ experience in SQL and/or C#
  • Mainframe experience (COBOL, SAS, Data Analyzer etc.)
  • Programming and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of electronic enrollment processing
  • Knowledge of MembersEdge/NASCO membership and billing systems
  • Intermediate or higher knowledge of MS Excel, SharePoint and MS Access
