Agile Coach

Job Description/Responsibilities:
The Agile Coach is responsible for supporting transformation to the Enterprise Agile Operating Model and championing Agile maturity throughout the organization. S/he uses common enterprise Agile maturity metrics to enable data driven continuous improvement. A key aspect of this role is developing partnerships with business and technology leaders to make foundational connections to the vision of a common operating model to enable delivery of our business strategy, focusing on the human aspects of change. The Agile Coach has a proven record of accomplishment in assessing agility, coaching employees at all levels, including senior management, on Agile principles and practices, and providing them with the necessary mindset and knowledge to implement agility within their own work, thus influencing their team, their peers, and the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Helps drive business and technology teams to adopt the Enterprise Agile Operating Model and track adoption.
- Facilitates review of metric definitions to ensure teams have clear understanding of intent and definition of Agile metrics.
- Utilizes enterprise Agile maturity metrics to generate enterprise transparency and identify opportunities for Agile maturity alignment and driving improvement.
- Manages delivery of individual and team training for terminology, roles, best practices, new tools, etc.
- Partners with business and technology stakeholders to provide understanding on defining and maintaining product roadmaps and program epics, and decomposition to a level at which they can be included in program increment planning.
- Transitions stakeholders to a common method for technology work intake, evaluation of the value proposition, providing visibility into ideation and funding, work decomposition, planning, and delivery.
- Ensures teams are prepared for Planning events by communicating common ways to size work, defining how MVPs are defined and prioritized, and aligning teams to a common way to assess capacity and utilize enterprise tools, where applicable, regardless of team structure
- Assists in championing the transformation by developing, delivering, and managing the overall communication strategy, value proposition, and change management plan across leadership, technology teams, and business teams.
- Collaborates with teams to identify differences between current and future states, and outline steps required to enable the vision, identifying, and removing barriers that slow or prevent the successful change.
- Collects wins and communicate broadly to track progress and energize transformation efforts.
- Partners with enterprise Agile team to drive Agile adoption and continuously improve the measurement of Agile maturity across the enterprise
- Partners with Integration and Transformation to identify opportunities for improvement and to optimize team performance.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience helping drive sustainable, large-scale Agile transformation or organizational change
- Extensive experience working with multi-disciplinary teams, balancing technical knowledge with business acumen, and understanding and adapting to organizational dynamics.
- Significant demonstrated experience in a Fortune 500 organization in aligning technology planning and delivery processes across the enterprise to achieve consistency, transparency, predictability and agility via process, terminology, and metrics and tooling improvements.
- Agile mindset that exemplifies Agile core values of openness, courage, respect, focus, and commitment, while demonstrating Agile principles, practices and methods to achieve success.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, and the ability to quickly establish trust and maintain strong relationships.
- Process improvement skills, with the ability to assess trends, processes, and barriers to drive actionable business results required.
- Experience with project management approaches, tools, and phases of the software project lifecycle
- Experience in Agile tools (Azure DevOps, JIRA/JIRA Align), collaboration tools (Confluence, SharePoint), ticketing systems (ServiceNow)
- Exceptional verbal and written communications, active listening, and ability to effectively communicate thoughts, concepts, and practices effectively at all levels, adjusting as needed to a target audience.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, active listening, root cause identification, and powerful/probing questioning skills.
- Healthcare industry experience preferred.
Education Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience
Agile Coaching certifications preferred.
